Plant Seeds To Grow Your Business
Planting seeds is a little like placing an idea in someone’s head that will grow into a thought; that thought will continue to grow into an unanswered question and that question can grow into the desire to have more information.
When we plant seeds to grow our business we are providing others with a small bit of information that has the possibility to grow into a large opportunity sometime in the future.
When you plant seeds to grow your business, it is different from trying to close a prospect on the decision to join your opportunity NOW. There are a great number of ways to plant seeds to grow your business. In the list below I will share some ways to plant seeds to grow your business, but if you begin thinking outside the box of traditional seed planting, you will surely come up with an endless number of ways to plant seeds that will eventually lead to growing your business successfully.
- Pass out business cards and/or share what you do for a living at Networking Events, Business Socials or even Private Get togethers with Family and Friends. You don’t want to share your whole business plan, product and compensation plan at this time. Make a mention that you are a Network Marketer and you earn a living by training others to discover their passion and work from home. If the person wants more information explain to them that you will call them later that evening or sometime during the week. If they don’t ask further questions, there has been a seed planted should they think about you and your business in the future.
- Contact your warm market list. When they have implied that they aren’t interested in your business at this time, you have begun to plant seeds to grow your business in the future with them or with others that they might know to be interested.
- Court Your Leads. Building relationships with leads through social media and autoresponders and providing them good solid content and training without the big PUSH to your Primary Business is definitely an effective way to plant seeds to grow your business.
- Give of Yourself. If you have a special talent or previous work experience that would help others, offer your services for FREE Training or speaking engagements.
- Biz Card Drop. Leaving your business cards in the relevant section of the library or local book store in the Entrepreneur or How To Grow Your Business section is the perfect way to plant seeds to grow your business.
- Be Available…Be Real. Constant interaction with others in your social media networks, social groups, sports clubs and volunteer organizations will entice others to ask “What is it EXACTLY that you do?”
Growing a business is not EASY, but it is Simple! It’s simple when you realize what it takes to grow a business is steadfastness, perseverance, leadership, clear goals and commitment. It’s not Easy . . . it IS hard work, but it can be Simple!
In saying all of this, it’s crucial to know how to grow a seed once you’ve planted it.
Just like any seed that is planted, it requires rich soil, water and heat and light from the sun.
So, where the seed is planted is important.
It must be planted in rich soil to grow, which means people who have the characteristics of being genuinely good prospects. Don’t bother wasting your time on those that aren’t interested, that you must force the conversation with or chase for an appointment. These people are rocky soil in which the seed will not sprout roots and grow. Plant seeds in rich soil.
The water that your seed requires to grow is the nourishment. The Nourishment you pour into your prospects is training and leadership. You must be willing to give of yourself first before you will ever receive. Provide powerful training, a system to get them where they want to grow and leadership and personal development skills that will take them there.
The Community and Team Environment that you invite your prospect into is the warmth and light of the sun. You can have the best training, compensation plan and product in the world, but if you don’t have a team of people who support and care for each other,(with the warmth of a Team), your prospect (your seed) will die. You must help provide support, guidance and leadership at every turn to encourage your seed to grow.
Growing a business in which your provide nourishment to others in the form of training, leadership, commitment and community will ensure that the seeds that have been planted will grow and flourish into a large and healthy garden that produces!
You must not only plant seeds to grow your business, you must also know how to grow the seed once it has been planted.

I believe in planting the seeds. In fact, that’s about all we can control (the number of people we expose to our products and business). Like a master gardener we must learn to nourish the soil and seed. Me me this is what sets us apart. Those people who are adding value to other people are typically those who will reap the harvest.

You are so right Terry. At the end of a day that hasn’t produced the results we thought it would, we can rest easy in the knowledge that at least we helped otherstoward their goals. These actions may not always pay us in the way we think, but being a person of value will always produce a successful harvest!

Wonderful article, Penny. And just like a flourishing garden, it takes time but very much worth the effort.

Hi Debra! Yes, so true. Just like our gardens, we tend and toil like crazy at the outset and may not see sprouts right away, but that doesn’t mean we stop watering it. A continued effort even in the absence of desired results makes all the difference in the future.

I love the analogy Penny, and the way that you presented the information. It is a great reminder to practice and give steady consistent love to our business efforts and not get distracted by the get rich quick mentality which only frustrates and has no value.
Thanks for posting!

So true VAL! So many get caught up in the Get Rich Quick Trap and then quickly fall by the wayside when things get tough! To be enlightened at the start of our Business pursuits, that it takes time, persistence, and giving to others consistently that makes the difference, is a Gift we should all impart to newcomers. Thanx Val!

Awesome post Penny. I love the correlation with the seed and esp about the soil, thats exactly where it lies. The thing is even plants grow stronger and more vibrant in a loving and nurturing environment.

Thanks so much for visiting Joe! I agree sometimes we may not even know that we have planted a seed until further in the future. Planting now, makes for a successful harvest down the road.

As you say planting seeds is something we should be doing all day long. Even a casual mention to someone is the germ of a seed planted.
I don’t have business cards to hand out, it is a lot more effective if instead of handing out your card to prospects, you ask for theirs instead. This way you can be sure to contact them rather than hope they contact you.
